Video Game Time Line



Pong is believed to be the first commercial game ever, based  on a tennis style the players simply bat the ball back and forth. Made by Allan Alcorn in 1972 working for Atari

 Grand trak 10 first racing arcade game released in 1974 it was also first to use ROM. Made by Atari the player raced against the clock, accumulating as many points as possible.

Break is the early version of brick breaker which blackberry uses as a game on there phones. Made by Steve jobs and Steve Wozinak the co founders of apple in 1976. The player fires bricks to break blocks which gain points.

Nintendor released the colour TU in 1977 packing 6 different varitions of PONG tennis.


   
Notable released space invaders in 1978 which is considered the first flight simulator for a commercial console. The player has to shoot and dodge alien space ships accumulating as many points as possible.




Mattel releases the intelliusion console in 1980, a total of 125 games game out during its lifetime.



Notable releases donkey kong frogger in 1981 for the Nintendo, the player focuses on manoeuvring the main character across a series of platforms while dodging and jumping over obstacles accumulating as many points as possible.


 Saga released the SG-1000 to japanese market, its only ever reached minor success. 1983



With their first venture into games Microsoft releases the Xbox, this sold 24million units sold world wide.

Skyrim was released in 2011 by Bethesda, it sold 7millions copies in the first week and its considered the world’s biggest SandBox game of its era. The player creates a character which he or she can do missions around the big map Bethesda has provided.

Grand theft auto was released in 2013 by rockstar games, it was awarded numerous awards before it was even released. Officially released on September 17, the open world crime game sold 11.21 million copies and generated £511.8 million in its first 24 hours on sale.
