Inventories

Inventories are used to access data and objects, the player can click on shortcuts or categories to narrow down there search.

Pokemon uses categories such as "Key items" which give a general idea of what is in the category which is easier to use for less experienced users.
There is no weight limit in Pokemon and you can have as many items as you want, which is good because you don't have to get rid of any good items.. but is a hindrance because your inventory can get pretty messy pretty quick.
The inventory is accessed through the menu, the inventory design fits in with the game because it is colourful and has a simple design like Pokemon.
I think the inventory is very simple and effective and can be used by anyone.

Skyrim uses a more complex inventory and uses categories such as "light Armour" this lets the user to pick out the exact item he wants to use for quicker access for more experienced users. The inventory is weight limited and stronger characters can carry more weight, therefor more items can be used. This good because it keeps your inventory clean and organised, but is a hindrance because you can end up having to leave valuable items behind. Different items have different weight so you have to decide wisely on what items you pick up (you can have an over weight inventory but you cannot run, you walk very slowly)
The Inventory suites the game very well because Skyrim is about amazing views and scenery, the inventory is translucent so you can see the scenery when in the inventory when browsing.
I think the inventory is well designed and looks amazing, but can be hard to used if you don't know what the categories actually mean.

Minecraft is a straight a forward inventory and has no categories or genres, this is a problem because it get really really messy and you don't know where to look and can take time to find a specific item.
It is very easy to use and practically anyone can use this even if you cannot read because Minecraft uses little images to show what item you are choosing. There is a section in the inventory where you can craft and create equipment by placing certain items in certain boxes, There is no weight limit but there is a limit to how many stuff you can have.
I think the Minecraft inventory is simple and easy to use but can get really messy and gets hard to find stuff.

Introducing Myself..

I'm Callum Wightman from Padgate and I'm currently Studying Computer games design at Priestley college, I enjoy drawing and playing games so Games design is the perfect course for me. I consider myself a good drawer but I still have much to learn, I'm eager to learn and always looking to better my abilities.

My favorite game has got to be Skyrim as I have spent hours playing and absolutely love adventure games, The best aspect of Skyrim and what compels me to play the most is the open world exploration and The fact that you an do what you want in the game.. good, bad, evil or even a bit of both. I prefer to play both good or evil and is usually an all around character but favors Strength and damage.
